Advertising, Happiness and The End of the World

As the technologies get more developed, they are more involved in people's life. The medias are delivered in more ways. When I was studying in China, I did not get much chances to use computers or laptops for studying since the schools believe that the students can be easily distracted when they are using technologies for school works. The majority of parents also support the old-fashioned hand-writing homework. However, the main path for me to get connected to the news around me is still the Internet. I even get to use the medias more frequently when I study in the US since the students are required to finish most of their work online. Defining the facts and the way of viewing the sources becomes important. 
Through the commercial clips that we view in class, I am aware that people have different perspectives which leads to different understanding of same objects. For example, the two commercial clips about dove have completely contrary opinions though these two clips have similar shooting, editing, and music backgrounds. Dove Beauty Pressure focuses on the importance of the education of beauty towards young kids. The fast pacing clips of the billboards, fashion, advertisements of the beauty industries show the influences of the medias can affect the children’s principles or values easily. The main audiences are the parents. It is a reminder or a warning that the parents should care more about the growth of their children. And in the Greenpeace Dove, it enhances the pollution the dove made by cutting down trees to make palm oil. The clips of dying animals, scenes of cutting down trees, and the over excavated lands demonstrates the urging situation of the environment. This clip targets the people around the world who cares about the earth. From my perspective, these two commercial clips focus on different areas which are both important to people’s living. Education of young kids can shape their perspectives towards the medias around them. And protecting the environment is also the duty of all people. It is unnecessary to put one over another since they are valuable from different interpretations. More importantly, people should be more critical of the medias, and the perspectives of views should not remain unchanged since the time is changing.
